Have you ever noticed that some of the cups we often drink in our lives have some small rules: milk tea is made of transparent plastic cups, hot coffee is made of ceramic cups or plastic paper cups, beer is made of glass... No matter what the brand is, the materials of the cups they use are similar.

Is there anything particular about this? Will cups made of different materials have different effects? Today, let's talk about it.

what are the commonly used cup material?

1

ceramic cup

Ceramic cup is made of kaolin, clay and other raw materials after sintering, with high melting point, high hardness characteristics, so the ceramic cup made of durable.

The raw materials used in the ceramic cup and the porcelain cup are different, and the sintering temperature is also different: the ceramic cup uses clay and the porcelain cup uses kaolin. The firing temperature of the ceramic cup is generally lower than that of the porcelain cup, which leads to different water absorption rates of the ceramic cup. The water absorption rate is low, the surface is easy to clean and does not absorb peculiar smell, and there will be no glaze cracking.

When buying a ceramic cup, you can flick it with your fingers. If it is a crisp and pleasant sound, it means that its porcelain is meticulous and dense. If the voice is hoarse, it is inferior porcelain.

Glass

According to different processes, the glass can be divided into: ordinary glass, tempered glass, high borosilicate heat-resistant glass. Ordinary glass is easy to break and burst when it is cold and hot. In order to solve the two shortcomings of ordinary glass, tempered glass, high borosilicate heat-resistant glass came into being.

Anti-fall: high borosilicate heat-resistant glass is equivalent to ordinary glass, while tempered glass is 3-5 times that of ordinary glass.

High temperature resistance: local thermal expansion, high borosilicate heat-resistant glass caused by the expansion difference is very small, not easy to damage; and tempered glass because of its prestress resistance, tempered prestress resistance expansion difference and not damaged.

High borosilicate heat-resistant glass has a higher working temperature, up to 450 ℃, while tempered glass generally has a maximum temperature of not more than 300 ℃, but in terms of drinking hot water, the use of the above two glasses will not burst.

You can put the cup in the refrigerator and pour 100 degrees of boiling water after cooling. If it does not burst, it is a high borosilicate or tempered glass.

3

plastic cup

Generally speaking, the bottom of the plastic cup is printed with numbers or initials, representing the plastic material of the cup.

The transparent cup used in milk tea [polyethylene terephthalate (PET/01)]: transparent, flexible, good crack resistance, light weight, good gas barrier effect, but the heat resistance is not good, about 70 ℃ will be deformed, so it can only be used for cold drinks or normal temperature drinks.

Soft transparent plastic cup [polyethylene (PE/04)]: not very common, its heat resistance is not strong, more than 110 ℃ will occur hot melt phenomenon.
